HANDOUT NO.1 PESH: DT: 21/1/2010

NWFP Minister for Zakat and Ushr Haji Zarshaid Khan Advocate and Minister for Revenue Makhdoomzada Syed Mureed Kazim Shah have strongly condemned the yesterday’s bomb blast in which MPA Auragzeb Khan was received injuries. In their separate press statements issued here today, they deplored the incident and expressed their sympathies with the MPA and his other companions. They expressed heartfelt sympathies with them and prayed for their early recovery.

HANDOUT NO.2 PESH: DT: 21/1/2010 Secretary Environment NWFP, Zahur Ahmad Khalil visited Lower Hazara Circle, the other day and held meeting with conservators of Forests Upper and Lower Hazara on various issues. During the meeting, bilogical as well as cultural activities, carbon sequestration project came under discussion. He informed about the activities which will be launched on the basis of intensive management and on integrated paradigm in various planning units in each forest division. Secretary Environment categorically directed to ensure the physical implementation of all cultrual as well as biolotical activities envisaged in the approved PC-I in its real spirit and as per scenario formulated. He directed the concerned officials to concentrate on development of intensive carbon sinks specially on barren lands in classified as well as in non-classified forests. Discussion was also made regarding proper functioning of the newly created Upper Hazara Circle which was established after bifurcation of the defunct Hazara Circle into Lower and Upper Hazara Forest Circles with headquarters at Abbottabad and Mansehra respectively. Conservator of forest, Upper Hazara apprised that Upper Hazara Forest Circle has been created through SNE with effect from July 1, 2009 comprising territorial jurisdiction of Upper Kohistan Forest Division, Lower Kohistan Forest Division, Hazara Tribal Forest Division and Agror Tanawal Forest Division. After posting of conservator, the office of Upper Hazara Forest Circle has started its functioning. With reference progress so far made on the policy for disposal of left over illicitly timber for Kohistan district. The secretary was informed that a grand jirga was held with the elders of the area and timber owners and explained provision of the policy and in this regard notices were displayed on public places for information of general public/owners. Secretary Environment directed the officials concerned to implement in its true spirit. The CF Upper Hazara and the DFOs, Upper and Lower Kohistan Division should give special attention to the protection of the precious forest cover of their respective jurisdiction. The new policy has increased the personal responsibility of these officers, so extreme care and vigilance is required on their part for judicious and legal disposal of the left over illicitly cut timber of Kohistan district. The Chief Conservator of forests, NWFP being the Chief Custodian of Forests should also persoanlly monitor the affairs of forest circles hazara i.e. upper and lower, he added.

News 2 Bilour visits slum area in city, removes locals grievances HANDOUT No 5 /GHG/AQ/ES/DT: 21-1-10 The Puklhtoonkhwa Senior Minister and Parliamentary Leader of ANP Bashir Ahmad Bilour has said that serving the masses devotedly was sole mission of his life and he would endeavor with this task for good. He was talking to people after visiting a slum residential area in his constituency Peshawar city. On this occasion, the high ups of Town One, Works & Services and Water Supply & Public Health Engineering Departments also accompanied him. Bashir Bilour issued on the spot directives for solving the sewerage and drinking water problems of the poor residents of this slum colony wherein the Town authorities assured for starting immediate work in this regard. The locals thanked the Senior Minister for taking personal imterest in solving their grievances despite security threats to him. However the Senior Minister said he would never tolerate any suffering of the poor and reiterated the pledge of his government that solid steps would be taken for development of Peshawar city as well as providing abundant civic facilities to the citizens. However, he made clear that he would come hard on any lethargy on part of the government officials and would never compromise on timely and quality completion of the developmental projects in the city. He said that new transformers have been installed in various localities of his constituency in last few months to remove voltage problem and improve power supply situation in the city. He said that ANP Government was taking concrete steps on realistic grounds for maintenance of durable peace and prosperity of the poor masses in the region right from Swat to Waziristan and our success would lead to guarantee of peace and protection of lives, honour and properties of the masses. The Senior Minister during inspection of Nawababad, Shabbir Shaheed road, Syed Hassan Peer area directed for removal of the garbage heaps and containers to improve hygienic condition in the area.

News 3 HANDOUT NO. 3 /DO/AQ/ES/DT: 21-1-2010 According to DCO Peshawar, the office order earlier issued regarding imposition of ban on holding of public meeting/protest in front of the Press club Peshawar has been extended for further period of 30 days.

HANDOUT NO. 4 /DO/AQ/ES/DT: 21-1-2010 The NWFP government on the recommendations of NWFP Public Service Commission has ordered the appointment of Dr. Anwar Shah S/O Laiq Shah, Medical Officer, HMC Peshawar as Senior Registrar Neuro Surgery (BS-18) at Khhalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital Bannu on regular basis with immediate effect. Similarly, the competent authority has ordered the appointment of Dr. Sajjad Ahmad S/O Attaullah Khan Baloch (presently working as Medical Officer in Sheikh Zayed Hospital Lahore) as Assistant Professor Histopathology (BS-18) at Gomal Medical College DIKhan on regular basis with immediate effect.

HANDOUT NO. 5 /DO/AQ/ES/DT: 21-1-2010 The NWFP Minsiter for Agriculture Arbab Muhammad Ayub Jan has declared Dalazak Road Peshawar as a “educational city” where from primary to university level all kind of educational instititute will be established in this “Educational City”. This he said while selecting land for the extension of g0overnment Boys Higher Secondary Schyool which has been upgraded to Degree level collage at Wadpaga Peshawar on Wednesday. On this occasion officers and officails of the C&W and Education Departments and elite of the area were also present. Arbab Ayub Jan said that it was the high time that to provide quality and mod education to our youth and that was why an educational city was being established in the provincial capital where all kinds of edcuational facilities would be available to youth while for establishing of a Information Technology University in this city the federal governmetn would be asked for help. He said that the provincial government would not only encourage the private sector to establish private institutes and government would also facilitate them. The Minsiter also directed the concerned quarters that provision of parks, markets, banks, feul stations, roads and green belts should have sufficient space in this “Educational City” and where all kinds of basic amenities would be available to the students. Speaking about the upgradation of Government Higher Secondary School for Boys to degree college, the Minsiter said that the present college was consisted on ten kanal area while forty kanal land would be more hired for its extension. He asked the elite of the area that without quality edcuation we could not face the present challenges and that was why the government was keen to provide the quality education to the youth to enable them to play their positive role in tomorrow world.
